How to Spend 2 Weeks in Europe
2 weeks in Europe is not nearly enough, but it’s a great start! Sometimes planning out trips can be confusing, so here are some example 2 week itineraries to inspire you!
Note: These are more starter itineraries, for travelers just starting to get to know Europe. They just include bigger cities to see, although I highly recommend smaller cities as well!
Classic
Paris – Rome – Barcelona – London
Ahh, the classics. If it’s your first time in Europe, these are the must-sees!
Paris – 4 days
Paris is packed full of museums and sights. You need 4 days in order to see everything, but still have time to breathe from all the sightseeing. If you’re on a budget, check out free things to do in Paris.
Rome – 3 days
If you only have the time for one city in Italy, it should definitely be Rome. Rome is such a culture capital, with ancient historic monuments that you’ve likely been dying to see. Check out Rome for the sights, but afterwards, plan a trip where you can really explore all that Italy has to offer.
Barcelona – 3 days
Barcelona is on everyone’s list! It’s warm, on the sea, and is a great introduction to Spanish culture. Spend a day or two inside the city, or head to some nearby towns and beaches if you have the time!
London – 4 days
You can’t miss London on your first Europe trip. It’s the classic staple and a beautiful city to explore!
Southern Europe
Lisbon – Madrid – Barcelona – Nice – Naples
Lisbon – 3 days
Lisbon is an amazing, vibrant city (with lots of cheap flights arriving)! It is a great start to your Southern Europe trip and a chance to see Portuguese culture before visiting the rest of the Iberian peninsula.
Madrid – 3 days
Madrid is one of my favorite cities. Okay, okay, maybe I’m cheating since I lived there, but it’s still great! Madrid is cosmopolitan and full of culture.
Barcelona – 3 days
The one thing that Madrid is lacking is the beach. Barcelona makes up for it! There are so many things to see inside and outside of Barcelona.
Nice – 2 days
The heart of the French Riviera. Nice is nice! It’s very trendy and cosmopolitan, and you can visit Monaco for a day trip!
Naples – 3 days
Everyone should go to Naples, simply for the fact that it’s the birthplace of pizza! Naples is the connector city to beautiful coastal villages on the Amalfi coast, the isle of Capri, and Pompeii in case you want to get some culture in.
Gateway to Eastern Europe
Munich – Prague – Vienna- Budapest
Munich – 3 days
Munich is a beautiful place in Germany made famous by Oktoberfest and BMW! It’s easy to fly into, and a great connector to other countries slightly more east.
Prague – 3 days
Prague is amazing and cheap and Bohemian and did I mention amazing?? Most people are either a Prague or a Budapest person so you need to try out both on this trip!
Vienna – 3 days
Vienna is classic and cosmopolitan. Visit the museums and opera houses and live the high life for a few days!
Budapest – 3 days
The other favorite Eastern Europe city. Budapest is a beautiful city and yet also famous for partying. A must-do in Budapest is to soak in the thermal baths!
Italy and Greece
Rome – Naples – Florence – Venice – Athens – Santorini
Rome – 3 days
Live the gladiator days in Rome! Start your trip in the capital of Italy
Naples – 3 days
Close to Naples there are several awe inspiring beach towns and islands. Plus, the food is amazing!
Florence – 2 days
Florence tends to be everyone’s favorite Italian city, and I’m no different! Check out this Florence itinerary in order to plan your trip perfectly.
Venice – 2 days
Explore the canals and get up close and personal with pigeons in St. Mark’s square.
Athens – 2 days
Athens holds a lot of history, but to be honest, it isn’t the nicest city to visit. It has a certain charm that I love, but it isn’t for everyone! It’s definitely still worth seeing though before going to the islands.
Santorini – 2 days
Santorini is probably the most famous Greek island, and for good reason! Enjoy the iconic blue and white architecture while you bask under the Grecian sun.
Northwestern Europe
Brussels – Amsterdam – Berlin – Copenhagen
Brussels – 2 days
Brussels is famous for its beer and waffles, both of which are simply amazing. Other than that though, Brussels doesn’t have a ton to see so it’s not worth it to spend several days there. Close to Brussels though, you can visit Bruges, which is called the “Venice of the north.”
Amsterdam – 3 days
Amsterdam is famous for one thing and one thing only, but it’s so much more than that! Amsterdam has some amazing museums and artwork. The city centre is nice to walk around in, but stay out of the bike lane!!
Berlin – 3 days
Berlin is crazy for parties and also jam packed of history. There is nowhere like Berlin.
Copenhagen – 2 days
Copenhagen is a stylish city full of hidden gems. It’s probably not at the top of everyone’s list, but is definitely worth checking out!
UK and Ireland
London – Edinburgh – Galway – Dublin
London – 4 days
London is full of things to do and see! It’s an absolute must before moving on to the rest of the island and is probably the easiest city to fly into in all of Europe.
Edinburgh – 2 days
Edinburgh is a beautiful city and Scotland’s capital. If you’re short on time you should explore the city in depth, but definitely plan another trip to see the rest of Scotland and the Highlands!
Galway – 2 days
Galway, Ireland (made even more famous by Ed Sheeran’s song) is a local, nice coastal town. Many Irish go there for holidays, and it’s worth it to spend at least a few days there.
Dublin – 3 days
Dublin is historical and modern at the same time. Lots of expats live there so it has a bit of an international vibe, but the Irish are such warm and welcoming people! There are plenty of things to do in Dublin, and you’re guaranteed to have a good time!
Scandinavia
Copenhagen – Stockholm – Bergen – Oslo
Copenhagen – 3 days
Visit the cute little houses of Nyhavn and stroll around the city.
Stockholm – 3 days
Continue your Scandinavian adventure in Stockholm and try Swedish meatballs!
Bergen – 3 days
A beautiful city in Norway that is a connector to the famous fjords.
Oslo – 3 days
The final stop on your Scandinavian adventure. This big city is modern but full of green spaces.
Europe is full of so much variety that it’s hard to choose! I hope this itineraries have given you ideas on where to spend 2 weeks in Europe.
