Although I would sometimes like to, it’s really impossible to bring all the beauty products for travel that I would like to. That’s why I pick out my favorite items that have multiple benefits and help my skin stay moisturized and blemish-free, even while I’m on the road!
My Favorite Beauty Products for Travel
It feels like I’m constantly on the move, so I always try to pack as light as possible! In addition to limited space, there are always those pesky liquid restrictions on airlines! After years of traveling/moving countries (and working at a beauty company!) I’ve really built up my repertoire of great beauty products for travel that are multifunctional and essential.
First on the list hands down has to be my:
1. Tinted moisturizer
Tinted moisturizer is my absolute favorite and I will never go on a trip without it. It serves as moisturizer, while still having enough coverage to even out your skin tone, but not too much to clog your pores. As an added bonus, it also includes SPF sunscreen, for protection from the sun and avoiding long-term damage! It’s the perfect 3-in-1 product that will certainly save some space while traveling.
I was super excited to find out that Elta MD recently came out with their own tinted moisturizer, a brand that was recommended to me by my dermatologist! Definitely worth it!
2. Waterproof eyeliner and mascara
If you still want to wear makeup when you travel, waterproof eyeliner and mascara are essential. Who knows when you may be caught in the rain or heaven forbid going swimming! Waterproof is a must when you don’t have the time to constantly fix your makeup.
3. Toning water
Perfect for a skin refresher when you don’t have time or space to do the entire skincare routine. The Mario Badescu toning water is perfect for a quick wake up call to your skin, without being too heavy. This is usually the only skincare product that I bring because it’s just so easy!
4. Solid shampoo
Solid shampoo is all the rage these days, and it saves liquid space! You may be skeptical at first, but solid shampoo is growing vastly in variety and popularity. Additionally, solid shampoo is being produced by lots of ethical companies. Try this one on for size!
5. Sea salt spray
For a quick, leave-the-hotel-and-go feeling. Sea salt spray for your hair is great to give you those beach waves without too much fuss. When traveling, you don’t have time to be constantly fixing your hair. I used to bring a straightener with me every I went but honestly, for those long trips it really isn’t worth it.
6. Concealer
Pack a small concealer for when you have those persistent blemishes and zits that just won’t go away! It’s always handy to have concealer on hand for a skin emergency and it saves you from having to apply foundation all over.
7. Mini eyeshadow
Bring a mini eyeshadow palette for the nights out or everyday! Way easier to bring in a carry-on than a full palette! Remember the uber-famous Naked palette that you used to use in school? Good news: There’s a mini one! Perfect to throw in your bag and go.
8. Toothpaste tabs
Another liquid substitute! These toothpaste tabs are a lifesaver. Just pop one on your toothbrush and you’re good to go! Toothpaste tabs are really growing in the backpacker community.
9. Makeup eraser
Sustainable and convenient! The makeup eraser just needs water to remove your makeup from the long day. I use it everyday and it works super well!! Plus, when you’re traveling, the less liquid you carry the better. You don’t even need a makeup remover with this magic cloth.
10. Travel Makeup Bag
Finally, you need the perfect bag to store all of your travel size products! I have found hanging, waterproof bags to be the best because you can use them in and outside of the shower. I ordered one and swear I will never use anything else!
